PM salutes maritime workforce as port-led growth accelerates

Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi lauded the dedication of India’s maritime community and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to port-led development on the occasion of National Maritime Day. He emphasised that the maritime sector is a vital pillar of the nation’s economic progress, aligned with the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. He highlighted the significant strides made in enhancing port capacity, reducing turnaround times and improving coastal connectivity through the Sagarmala programme to bolster global trade competitiveness. He added that today India’s maritime sector is moving with faster speed and energy. He also highlighted that the government has implemented modern and futuristic shipping laws for the 21st century, which are empowering state maritime boards and extending digitalisation in port management. The Prime Minister added that India will continue to harness the immense potential of its maritime sector for a prosperous future, as per a report.
