* Dr S. Xavier Britto Endowment Lecture highlights modern supply chain leadership

The Dr S. Xavier Britto Endowment Lecture was held at the Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), Chennai, on March 13, 2026, continuing its yearly tradition of hosting distinguished industry experts. The event also marked the launch of two significant books on logistics and global trade at the Dr S. Xavier Britto Auditorium.

The gathering brought together industry leaders, academicians, K-Indev members, the trade fraternity, LIBA professors and students to reflect on the evolving landscape of supply chains and logistics leadership.

Dedicated Logistics University Vision

In his inaugural address, Dr S. Xavier Britto, Chairman of K-Indev Logistics and XB Group, shared his long-term vision of establishing a dedicated Logistics University aimed at strengthening professional education and research in logistics, supply chain management and global trade. He noted that the newly released books mark the first step toward this larger academic and industry initiative, designed to equip future generations with practical knowledge drawn from decades of industry experience.

Dr Britto also highlighted India’s growing economic strength and the increasing importance of the logistics and shipping sector, noting how geopolitical disruptions can trigger global ripple effects across supply chains and impact everyday life around the world.

A Blueprint for Modern Supply Chain Leaders

The Chief Guest, Dr Arvind Sharma, Director – Supply Chain (South Asia) at Fresenius Medical Care India, delivered the Endowment Lecture on the theme “Metrics, Mindset and Meanings: The Making of Supply Chain Leaders.” In his address, Dr Sharma emphasised that modern supply chain leadership goes beyond operational efficiency. He highlighted the importance of using the right metrics to drive performance, cultivating the right mindset to navigate global uncertainties, and understanding the deeper meaning and purpose behind supply chain decisions that influence businesses and societies worldwide.

In-depth Volumes on Global Logistics

The event also marked the launch of two books authored by Dr S. Xavier Britto and Dr Bashir Rajan Babu - Beyond Borders: The Strategic Importance of Trade and Shipping Documents and Boxes That Changed the World’s Logistics Dynamics. Together, the books provide a comprehensive understanding of global logistics, covering trade documentation, financial instruments, legal frameworks and the technological evolution of containerised shipping.

As part of a larger planned series, these two volumes present the foundations of modern logistics - Beyond Borders explains the documentation that enables global trade, while Boxes That Changed the World’s Logistics Dynamics highlights the infrastructure that moves it.

The first copy of the books was presented to Rev. Fr. C. Joe Arun, Director of LIBA, symbolising the institution’s continued commitment to bridging academic learning with industry practice.

The launch marked more than the release of two books - it signalled the beginning of Dr Britto’s vision becoming a reality: building a strong knowledge ecosystem for logistics in India. With industry insight meeting academic rigour, the initiative aims to shape the next generation of leaders who will drive global trade and supply chains, emphasised a communique.
