Indian exports to the United States will be subject to an additional 10% tariff from February 24 for 150 days, following a ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States that struck down sweeping duties imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The 10% levy replaces the earlier 25% reciprocal tariff (plus an additional 25% linked to Russian crude purchases), which had taken total duties to 50%. However, exporters remain cautious after President Donald Trump signalled a possible hike to 15%, though no formal notification has been issued. The additional 10% will apply over existing MFN duties — meaning a product facing a 5% MFN rate would now attract 15%. Industry body Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) said clarity is crucial, especially beyond the 150-day window, as per a report.
